Influencing Decision Makers and Pitch Development

Using Your Story to Influence Decision Makers and
Developing Your Pitch

TWO FREE workshops for people with disability in Hobart

Turn your experiences into a short, spoken story that is powerful AND will stimulate the listener to take positive action to support a person’s needs and rights.

Get to know the many different levers of influence you can use to initiate and push for positive change.

These workshops will be facilitated by Robin Banks and Rodney Croome. Robin was the previous Anti-Discrimination Commissioner and Rodney was Tasmanian of the Year in 2015 for campaigning for rights in particular for members of the LGBTIQ community.

Workshop 1: Using Your Story to Influence Decision Makers (10am – 12pm)

You will learn about

  • How stories have been influential in social justice and human rights campaigns
  • How different parts of a story are useful to different situations
  • Developing and practicing your story

Workshop 2: Developing Your Pitch (1pm – 3pm)

You will learn about

  • How do we know who needs to hear our proposal?
  • How do we get time with politicians and other decision makers?
  • Is a meeting enough, or is more needed?

Date: Saturday 21st September
Time: 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 3pm
